The class has 3 groups of students.
ReplyDelete• The international students who are good in math but is very poor in language which results in them unable to understand the questions.
• The average students who are easily distracted but are fundamentally sound in math.
• The below average students who are poor in their foundation of math.
Differentiated approaches must be deployed to engage the different groups of students.
I'll probably need to get the international students to identify key words in the topic.
For the average students, they would need a lot of hands on practices.
For the below average students, they need very close monitoring, step by step coaching.
Week 2:
ReplyDeleteIan Yong and Charmaine Goh are habitual absentees of the class. Their foundation is poor and their absenteeism is making things worse. I’ll talk to them about the importance of their attendance.
week 3:
ReplyDeleteMuhd Arfan is making slow progress. He is unable to follow the lesson and has difficulties in finishing his assignment. He needs close monitoring and he is aware that he is poor in Math. He has engaged a private tutor to help him in Math.
The class appears to be confused with the utility bills unit, will need to go through again during the summary lesson.
Week 4:
ReplyDeleteThe class was excited about the discussion we had about tax and the different relieves that are available, in particular the NSmen relief. The international students are also engaged with the discussion and brought to the table their countries’ tax information.
Week 5:
ReplyDeleteThe class has short attention span of around 10 min. They will usually lose focus when teh teachers addresses questions from other students.
I must portion my lesson to bite size and have several activities in between every 10 to 15 min.
