1 comment:

  1. a) PAL Test as a form of assessment for students.

    b) Guidelines are not comprehensive.
For e.g. for students who are absent with or without valid reasons, the school should made it clear that re-test will not be conducted. Absentees without valid reasons will be given a “0”. Absentees with valid reasons will be given a VR.

    N.A.

Relook into the schedule for Term 3 and 4. Based on the experience from Term 1, PAL Test should not be conducted when there are major school events. For e.g. PAL tests are scheduled during IPW and Sports Meet but it is not possible to carry out them at all.

Reference should be made to the School Calendar of Events before any scheduling of PAL Tests.

    c) The disparity in abilities between local and foreign student.
Even though the foreign students might be older than their Singaporean classmates, they possess more drive than our local students. Their thirst for success is something the Singaporean students can learn from.

Singapore is a melting pot of cultures. The influx of foreign students and talent should bring about a positive change in terms of motivation level for our Singaporean students. Exposure to Mathematical contents of other countries should be attempted. For e.g. encourage more students to sign up for American Maths Competition, UNSW Competition etc.
